Working with the Ladies of Agapi Labs has been wonderful. I know that I can count on them to supply my lab with everything I need. I love that I speak to an actual person, or it’s an actual person that replies to my emails. Most of the time I don’t have a lot of time during the day, so I can shoot Dinia or Deanna an email with questions or a PO, and they will get back to me within 24hours. I don’t have to wait for them, nor for my supplies, I have ordered. The Ladies are very professional and courteous. I rely on them a lot.

I’ve so enjoyed meeting and working with Deanna and Dinia at Agapi Lab Solutions. Their customer service is unmatched and I hope to continue working with them in the future. We’ve been able to grow as a company because of our high quality, consistent beers.  Variability is inevitable simply because we’re working with seasonal hop and barley crops. Thus, we have to control what we can! And one of the most controllable and important factors is pitch rates. Pitch rates have a dramatic effect on beer flavor, fermentation and maturation time.  Without an accurate cell count and viability, there’s no way to control your process. Consistency is key! With 8 brewers on staff and our constant brew schedule, we found a cell count using a hemocytometer to be too timely and variable. Cell counts with the YC-100 are accurate, fast and have been invaluable in helping us make quality, consistent beer.  All it requires is 2 serial dilutions of a representative yeast sample, and I have an accurate cell count and viability in a couple of minutes. We wouldn’t be making the same quality beer without it.

Since my lab purchased the YC-100 Yeast Counter we have been able to run more and more samples on a daily basis. We have found it to be very accurate and even more so than the traditional cell counting method. When using the microscope and a person to count you have more room for human error. One person counts this many cells, and another counts this many cells. Sometimes they are slightly off from one another. Using the YC-100 Cell count you remove the human error part of it by having the machine count using DNA. You still have to prepare the sample correctly, but this reduces the chance of an error. I personally love this machine. It is very easy, and extremely fast. I would not ever choose to go back to the traditional method EVER.
